Congratulations to Kirill on this significant achievement!
In the meantime, we decided to ask Kirill about the source of his talent and skill, what he expected from the contest, what mattered most to him, and we posed a few questions to him.
Kirill, please tell us briefly about yourself and your professional background.
– "I was born, live, and work in Chișinău, Moldova. Occasionally, I travel on business trips in various directions by invitation. In Chișinău, we have the Decorum.md salon-showroom. From here, we dictate our unwavering decorative will to all progressive humanity. I have been in the field of decorative works since 2000; I started as a simple painter, and my first project was painting the facade of a health center in Rybnitsa (Transnistria). I enjoyed it, got hooked... Then came joint projects with Bulgarian and Yugoslav builders. We strived to work at a high professional level... Many years have passed since then, tons of paint have flowed, but A. Schwarzenegger's motto constantly echoes in my head: 'Stay hungry!'"
What made participating in the contest interesting for you?
– "I decided to participate in the contest spontaneously, without thinking about the outcome; I just took and sent photos of work I had done using 'Bris Paints' materials... Well, of course, later I got nervous, followed the discussion thread, analyzed... It was interesting to see what kind of works there were, from which areas of decorative arts, and how they were executed..."
What was more important: winning or participating?
– "For me, participation was probably more important at first, and then, if I got lucky, winning. I truly didn't expect that it was possible, but IT happened!"
Tell us about the winning entry. How was it created, what was the original idea, and were you able to satisfy the client and achieve the desired result?
– "Initially, the entire structure was assembled from drywall, just boxes. We knocked off and smoothed the corners, the way a carpenter's axe would do... Then we built up layers, creating the relief of hewn, chopped wood, while simultaneously making cracks and fissures, as well as joints between beams, for authenticity... The choice of 'White Clay' was dictated by this material's excellent property of 'holding relief' and the durability of the layer for further treatment with glazing compositions..."
– "This was a bedroom project; there were several adjustments, and the end result turned out as shown in the photo below."
What does winning the contest mean to you?
– "I am grateful to the contest organizers for providing the opportunity to showcase myself; this is a stimulus for further professional growth and development, but by no means a reason to 'rest on one's laurels'... We have a great many unfinished projects, uncreated samples, and unpainted walls awaiting us...!"
How long have you been working with "Bris Paints" brand materials, and why do you choose them?
– "I want to say that I am grateful to fate, as well as to Alexander Goncharov, for introducing me to the audience of the 'Design Without a Tie' forum, from which I, in turn, learned about the 'Bris Paints' brand. I have been working with these materials since 2012, using this manufacturer's products on 80% of my projects, thanks to the optimal price-quality ratio. An added advantage is the flexible system of working with customers and lightning-fast feedback... Having worked with various manufacturers, I settled on the 'Bris Paints' brand for myself, as the decorative product line of this company amply covers all possible needs of a craftsman and allows one to calmly implement the boldest and most advanced ideas for designing exteriors and interiors of any complexity..."
We thank Kirill for the engaging conversation and congratulate him on his victory on behalf of the entire "Bris Paints" team!
