“Art Metal” in Epoxy Base is a next-generation decorative material by Kraski Breez, designed to create authentic, high-fidelity metal surfaces—from mirror-polished brilliance to artistically aged patina—without using solid metal.
This two-component system combines real metallic particles (copper, bronze, steel, silver, etc.) with a ready-to-use epoxy resin formulation, delivering not only visual realism but also exceptional mechanical and chemical durability.
Unlike water-based analogues, the epoxy matrix is waterproof, vapor-tight, and highly resistant to abrasion, making it ideal for horizontal surfaces, furniture, and high-touch art installations.
System Composition
- Component A: Pure metallic powder (selected by desired metal effect)
- Component B: Pre-balanced epoxy resin with hardener and reactive diluent in a single container
- No need to measure separate hardeners—simplified, error-resistant mixing
- After curing, the coating exhibits true metal-like properties: reflectivity, density, and reactivity to oxidation
Key Features
- Realistic metallic aesthetics: from liquid-gloss polish to antique patina
- Fully customizable aging: compatible with “Catalana” patina activators (Kraski Breez) for controlled rust, verdigris, or black oxide effects
- High adhesion: bonds to diverse substrates—wood, concrete, metal, glass, stone, even leather (for decor)
- Non-porous & waterproof: ideal for countertops, bars, bathroom accents
- Odour-neutral after curing – does not absorb smells
- Chemically stable once fully polymerized
Applications
Perfect for:
- Designer furniture (tables, consoles, cabinets)
- Art objects, sculptures, and wall panels
- Accent walls, columns, and 3D architectural details
- Restoration and upcycling projects
- Interior styles: Industrial, Loft, Art Deco, Brutalism, Modern Luxury
Suitable substrates:
- Wood | Concrete | Plaster
- Metal | Glass | Ceramic | Natural stone
- Leather (decorative elements)
Not recommended for:
- Polycarbonate (e.g., plexiglass)
- Polyethylene, nylon, and other non-porous, low-energy plastics
Application & Curing Process
- Mix Components A and B immediately before use (follow manufacturer’s ratio).
- Apply by brush, trowel, or pour—depending on desired effect.
- Working window: ~45–90 min at 20°C (adjustable with temperature).
- Curing stages:
- Tacky phase (1–6 hrs): ideal for texture modeling or additional metal dusting
- Solid phase (~24 hrs): surface hardens
- Full cure: 72 hours (chemical resistance fully developed)
For patina effects: apply “Catalana” activators after 24–48 hrs, while epoxy is cured but metal remains reactive.
Maintenance
After full cure (72 hrs):
- Clean with damp cloth and neutral detergents
Strictly avoid:
- Acidic cleaners (vinegar, citric acid)
- Alkaline or caustic agents (bleach, oven cleaners)
- Abrasive pads or solvents
These may trigger uncontrolled corrosion, cloud the epoxy, or etch the surface.
⚠️ If patina is NOT desired: avoid moisture and chemicals during the first 72 hours. Consider a clear protective overcoat (e.g., UV-stable epoxy or polyurethane) for high-exposure areas.
Environmental & Safety Notes
- Do not dispose of liquid waste in drains, soil, or waterways.
- Cured material: inert—dispose as regular solid waste.
- Uncured resin: chemically active—handle with gloves, store sealed, and dispose per local hazardous waste regulations.
- Empty containers: rinse and discard as household waste (check local rules).
Shelf Life
12 months from production date when stored in original, sealed packaging at +5°C to +25°C in a dry, dark place.
Creative Potential
“Art Metal” in Epoxy Base transcends traditional finishes—it’s a sculptural medium that merges industrial realism, artisanal chemistry, and design innovation.
Whether you’re crafting a bronze-like bar top, a steel-clad wall, or a copper patina art panel, this system delivers unmatched depth, durability, and dramatic presence.
